I’ve just been sent some photos of the demo that Tai Chi in Walsall Arboretum recently. And very nice they are too. Thank you very much to James Allen for sending those through. We now teach 2 tai chi classes in Walsall every week, as well as classes in Bloxwich, Pleck, Pelsall and Aldridge, so we had a good number of class members to draw on for this demo.
Walsall Arboretum is a particularly good place to chat with people – old acquaintances and new faces equally. Being so close to the town centre, it offers a haven for people who want to relax and get involved with some natural beauty, who may not have the time otherwise to regularly get away from it all into the countryside. Tai Chi does the same thing for tai chi practitioners. Our members use our tai chi classes in Walsall to help remain centred and balanced.
Walsall Arboretum, an old Victorian public park, is home to over 200 species of tree and shrub. At Walsall Tai Chi, we do a meditational exercise called Zhan Zhong, which involves standing still in nature, like a post, and relaxing all the muscles, allowing your skeletal structure to hold you up, without fighting the ground. Instead, you sink your weight into the ground, and feel at one with nature, like a tree or shrub.
